Glittering Star at Tetragon Lodge Freemasons Hall, Great Queen Street. London

Saturday, 4th September 2021 saw Lodge Glittering Star 322 IC return to Freemasons Hall Great Queen Street as guests of Tetragon Lodge 6302 EC. If I may quote from Bob Bashford of Lodge 200 the Irish Constitution Lodge of Research :

After an excellent breakfast, we made our way to Great Queen Street, where there was much activity, at that time of the morning. There was an Open House in the Hall itself where members of the public had the opportunity to question the Grand Secretary of UGLE and the Grand Secretary of Freemasonry for Woman, who shared a platform on this occasion. Upstairs there were several other Lodges meeting including the nascent Formula One Lodge No 4168, which as the name suggests, is a Lodge for Brethren interested in Formula One Motorsport.

We were up in Temple 17 – The Buckinghamshire Room, so called, to mark the financial donation made to Grand Lodge in support of this building as a Hall Stone Lodge. As this was one of the larger Temples on this floor, there was plenty of space for the members of Glittering Star and their many visitors. Some of the differences between Irish and English ritual were immediately apparent, the Irish as working Masons with their aprons under the jackets and the English with their aprons over their jackets. Fortunately, 322 are well experienced in their work as travelling Masons and quickly set up their altar in the entre of the room, much to the surprise of many. And so, the morning proceeded with many more examples of Irish Working, much to the delight of all present.

A pleasant day was brought to an excellent conclusion with a private tour of the Tower of London complete with the Ceremony of The Keys courtesy of the Yeoman Warders
